Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) needs to be at the forefront of international academia for increased visibility and to make its mark in the world. For a larger and more meaningful impact, communication via the use of appropriate language is key in the planning, implementation and documentation of the university activities.
UniMAP Translation and Language Services Unit also known as Unit Terjemahan dan Perkhidmatan Bahasa (UTPB), was set up with the above in mind. Run under the Centre for International Languages of the university, UTPB was approved on 3 March 2014 in the University Management Committee Meeting #90, and began its operations on 1 July 2014.
Managed by a Coordinator, UTPB is mobilised by a dedicated group of in-house translators, comprising of academic staff members. UTPB primarily operates on a standard procedure, thus ensuring that written and translation work undertaken by the Unit run smoothly and efficiently.
UTPB’s primary responsibility centres on the tasks of translating and editing official UniMAP documents such as news articles, memorandums, forms, website texts, speeches and communiques related to official events. We mostly deal with tasks involving but not limited to Bahasa Melayu and English.
